The Samui Authentic Safari Tour is a full-day land excursion that explores the island's jungle interior. Unlike many operators who use open-air 4x4 trucks, we use our 10-passenger van for a more comfortable and private experience — especially appreciated on Samui's steep, winding mountain roads.

Our safari route covers the most scenic and culturally significant spots in Koh Samui's interior. The exact order may vary depending on conditions, but here's what a typical day includes:

Panoramic Viewpoints

The tour begins with a drive up into the mountains to reach some of Samui's most breathtaking viewpoints. From the highest points on the island, you get 360-degree views over the Gulf of Thailand, with Ang Thong Marine Park visible on clear days. These vantage points are accessible only by mountain roads — you won't find them on any walking trail.

Waterfalls

Koh Samui has several beautiful waterfalls hidden in the jungle interior. We visit the most impressive ones, where you'll have time to swim in natural rock pools surrounded by tropical vegetation. The waterfalls are most spectacular during and just after the rainy season (October-January), but they flow year-round. Bring swimwear and a towel if you want to take a dip.

Buddhist Temples

The safari includes visits to lesser-known Buddhist temples tucked away in the hills. These aren't the crowded tourist temples you find along the coast — they're peaceful, atmospheric places where monks still practice daily. You'll learn about Thai Buddhist traditions from our guide. Note: Please dress respectfully (shoulders and knees covered) for temple visits.

Rubber Plantations

Much of Koh Samui's interior is covered with rubber plantations — a legacy of the island's agricultural past before tourism took over. We stop at a working plantation where you can see how rubber is tapped from trees, collected, and processed. It's a fascinating glimpse into rural Thai life that most tourists never experience.

Ethical Elephant Sanctuary

One of the highlights of our safari is a visit to an ethical elephant sanctuary. We want to be very clear: we do not support elephant riding. The sanctuary we partner with allows you to observe and feed these magnificent creatures in a respectful environment where the elephants' welfare comes first. You'll learn about elephant conservation in Thailand and the ongoing efforts to rehabilitate elephants from the tourism and logging industries.

What to Bring & Practical Tips

1. Comfortable shoes — You'll walk on uneven terrain around waterfalls and temples. Trainers or hiking sandals work well. Avoid flip-flops.
2. Modest clothing — For temple visits, shoulders and knees should be covered. Bring a light sarong or long trousers.
3. Swimwear & towel — If you want to swim at the waterfalls. We don't provide towels on the safari tour.
4. Camera — The viewpoints and jungle scenery provide incredible photo opportunities. Waterproof protection recommended near waterfalls.
5. Insect repellent — We're heading into the jungle. Mosquitoes are more common in shaded, humid areas.
6. Some cash — For souvenirs or additional drinks at stops. 500-1,000 THB is more than enough.
